Definitions and Component Database

Database
A Data Base Management System (DBMS) consists of a set of inter-related data and a set of programs that make access to the data
The objectives of the DBMS is the most efficient and 'convinient'
Management of data involving both the structure and mechanism of information in their manipulation of information.

Components Database
• DATA, the data stored in integrated and used together
• hardware, hardware used in managing the database system
• SOFTWARE, software intermediary between users with physical data. software can be a data base management system and the various application programs
• USER, as a user of the system
• Property is important DBMS data independency, which can be described as a condition in which data and application programs independent in the sense that the changes do not affect each other.
• Program applications are not affected by the changes made to the data and how data is organized by the physical DBMS
• DBMS gave abstraction the management of information on the level of logic. The view logic is not dependent on the physical representation means.
• Example: accessing certain rekord appear on the logic of such access as a table, while indeed saved the file as the file hash algorithms that do the transformation to address key
• complexity-level of complexity in accessing rekord that the user does not need to know the DBMS
• Scheme relationship DBMS and FMS
• DBMS gave abstraction the management of information on the level of logic.
• Users associated with the DBMS through the logic of the concept of DBMS
• DBMS interact dngan file management system, FMS (File Management system) for the transformation of information into the logic level of physical level.
• FMS menggunakanfungsi-primitive functions pengakswsan secondary storage provided by the operating system
• The main factor that determines user satisfaction and dissatisfaction is a database system functionality and performance of the DBMS
• One of the criteria for the performance of the DBMS is the response time (response time). If the DBMS response time is too long means the value of the performance of the system worse
• Goal computing is to provide information on which decisions can be made and actions can be done
• store the data in the DBMS, in which the DBMS save the file, rekord-rekord and the relationship between files in tecord
• There are fundamental to the operating records in the file:
- Insert records
- Modify record
- Search a record
- Read the entire file
- Reorganize the file
